I would have said "land" would be any solid ground regardless of what planet it was on. My dictionary seems to think differently though and defines it as a "solid part of the earth's surface".

Date: 2009-07-16 12:11 am (UTC)He was trying to make a similar argument about the moon, which surprised me as I would have said that landing on the moon would have been landing on land.
Dictionary definitions may not be strict (I generally view them as more guidance on what a word means), but this one did seem to back his argument up.
