Sometimes Livejournal makes me wonder whether I'm just utterly hopeless at communication.

I don't know whether I've just got a particularly different way of phrasing things, but I don't think I have, which makes me wonder why when I say things on here people's replies seem to take a completely different meaning of what I said to what I meant. This seems to result in me often re-phrasing previous comments in replies to try and get the original point across rather than developing the ideas further as I would like to.

Online communication is difficult and LiveJournal even more so in my experience. It's not just the, often mentioned, inability to judge someone's tone when you're not able to pick up on visual cues, though that's important, it's also that weird sense of public/private so you never quite know if a post was meant as a private thought or a public discussion starter and it's the combination of people you know really well, quite well and not at all trying to have discussions together and therefore soemtimes using shorthand or allusions that completely bypass some of the people in the discussion.

Also personally I use far too long sentences *stops now*

When I started writing that post it was also entirely one sentence, until I broke it up.

Lucky I don speak Finnish with it's gluing words together. I'd end up gluing whole paragraphs into 1 single long word!
