Just found this on flickr, it must be one of the coolest pictures of Gogs I've ever seen.
Yesterday, I decided to take my life in my own hands and wonder down to Peckham without a knife proof vest, to visit the South London Gallery.
Stereotypes aside, Peckham is quite an interesting place to visit, not least because it has the most bizarre library building ever:

Even more bizarre on the other side

Highly colourful, lambda-shaped with strange wire caging under the overhang. The sort of building they wouldn't have let them build anywhere else, it's excellent!
The Gallery itself was quite quaint, but the exhibition they had on (Marie Cool & Fabio Balducci's Untitled 2006-2009), was a bit on the pretentious side.
On the way back, I explored Burgess Park, which turns out is actually a Tardis. It looks really small on Old Kent Road and yet it stretches all the way to Camberwell (and, rather usefully at the time, Peckham via the Surrey Canal path).
Wondering through the park I stumbled across this, which seems an interesting thing to do to an old pub:

On The Hunt For Tea
May. 2nd, 2009 11:25 pmI was very disappointed when I first saw this about a year ago:

A sad site

The Bramah Tea and Coffee Museum
The website says it's closed for renovation and yes apparently the decorators are there, but it doesn't look like they're doing renovations to the place.
( A sign of hope )
Hopefully one day it will reappear, but it doesn't look like it's going to be in the location any time soon and the website doesn't give any indication of a new location.

Flickring Tea
Apr. 25th, 2009 12:00 pmLast week, I wanted to get a photo from my phone onto here (for this post, in fact).
Not having time to (a) go out a buy a memory card (b) get linux to talk phone (both of which I do intend to do), so took the easy option uploaded straight to flickr from my phone.
The upshot of which is I now have a flickr account and have been playing with it a bit this week.
Not sure I'll use it that much, as I don't take that many photos, but there is the occasional thing I see when walking around that makes me go ooo (some of which make there way on here already). What I do take is unlikely to be fancy photography (unless I've got natural hidden talent I don't know about), just ooo that looks interesting quick snaps.
Anyway, I'm hmmm_tea there too (LJ feed at
hmmm_tea_flickr)
Still playing to see what it does at the moment.

The Most Bizarre Rapper Tour So Far
Apr. 19th, 2009 12:26 pmSo, last night's tour was bizarre, but cool.
We went down well in the first few pubs (especially the Blackfriar - I love that place we went down really well last time we were there as well)
It was when we were passing the Young Vic that someone had the idea that we should ask if we could do a dance in the bar there. They said yes, so I can now claim to have performed at the Young Vic! It was actually a fairly crap place to do a dance, as the floor was terrible, the acoustics weren't much better and the audience were a bit tame, but it's certainly up there with the Royal Festival Hall, Lincoln's Inn and Trafalgar Square for prestige points.
However, the most bizarre point of the evening, was when we came to the Hole in the Wall and found this lot:

They must have been one of the best audiences we've had.
