Why is dancing kit all so awkward to wash?

Well ok, Thrales kit is fairly easy.

But Gogs kit is mainly hand wash only

and the tatters on the Hunt kit all curled up when I washed that meaning they all needed ironing to stop them looking like just bits of cord placed sporadically across a shirt rather than a complete coating of tatters (takes hours to iron a tatter coat!)...

Why do you iron your tatters? For that matter, how often are you wearing your tatter coat that you need to wash it?

I see you're point that they're supposed to be tatters, so ironing would be silly. Which is what I thought when I washed it and only discovered afterwards that I would have to iron it.

The tatters all curled up (width ways) making the coat look like it had bits of string/cord attached to it a sporadic intervals rather than a complete covering of tatters.

Have only washed it once since I made it.

I don't suppose boiling a big pan of water and holding/hanging them in the steam would help to unroll them, would it? Might be worth a try (don't get scalded!)

This is what I was about to suggest. That or getting an actual handheld clothing steamer.

Or hang them in the shower when you're showering (assuming one's shower space permits it), then letting them air dry.
