I thought I'd read one and a half, but I looked closer, and it's more like five and a half.

Snow crash - half.
Are you there god, It's me Margaret (what the hell is that doing there?)
Animal Farm, 1984.
The great Gatsby (didn't like it, but we did it at school. Actually the same goes for Animal Farm).
Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe.

I read one or two books by Graham Greene, and Virgina Woolf, but they didn't impress themselves sufficiently on my memory to know if they're the ones listed or not, so I hardly think I can count them.
I started a passage to india, and got bored, and I didn't like margaret atwood much either. We did an Ian McEwan - not the one listed - for school as well, and i wouldnt read anything else by him now. In fact there are several authors there I've either read things by and not liked, or read things by, liked, but not read the ones listed...

Catch-22 has been on my to read list for a while, but I'm never sure if I want to. I'm told it's a bit depressing.

It's a good book. Can be depressing due to the nature of the subject. I suppose it depends on your sense of humour as to whether you'd enjoy it or not. I can see that it wouldn't be to everyones taste.

well, it's on a shelf in my house. I may start it one day and never finish it, I'm good at that.

You'll probably get a good idea whether you'll like it or not quite early on in the book, so that's probably the best way really.

I managed 17 and I'm pretty much ashamed of myself as an arts student, though not an English student. There are several where I've read books by the author but not that one exactly.

I know the feeling...

Then again, as we all know, top 100s are all down to a certain group of peoples own personal tastes anyway and really don't mean a lot at the end of the day.

I like reading books (even if I'm particularly slow at doing so) and I'd like to think I've read a lot of books that were really worth reading. By coincidence 8 of them are on that list. Obviously my taste is different to theirs though and I would say there are a number of books I've read that I prefer to the ones on that list.

Definitely, would recommend him to anyone. Of the books of his I've read the ones I'd particularly recommend are:

A Scanner Darkly
Martian Timeslip

In fact they're probably the two books I'm most likely to recommend to anyone to read of any author really... Definitely worth picking up!
