(or words to that effect, seem to have forgotten them a bit in the past 2.5 hours)

Perhaps we should implement compulsory use of satnavs as a new traffic calming measure?

They are, indeed, craptastic. I worked on some of the early versions, many many years ago and I could plan a better route faster than them with a roadmap. Some of the routes even now are downright dangerous, but people seem to think that "Danger- deep ford" or "Road unsuitable for motorised vehicles" do not apply if the sacred Satnav says it is OK.

Plus there is the fun of user error where twerps put the postcode in wrong and go to the wrong town because they couldn't be arsed to check.

I'm with you on this one. Give me a map, I'll find you. Give me directions and I WILL get lost.
