The Art Of Finishing A Polka Dramatically...

Went to the Knees Up tonight at C#. Was fairly quiet in terms of the number of people that were there, but it was really fun ceilidh all the same. The Climax Ceilidh band have a lot of energy and are really amazing.

Final polka had an interesting finish, was polkaing around happily when I suddenly discovered a foot directly behind mine (another couple who were miles away a few moments before were suddenly right there next to us), went flying as did the girl I was dancing with. Landed flat on my back with her on top of me, perfectly on the last beat of the music!

Don't think I could ever repeat that if I tried!

Molly with Ouse Washes

Gogs went to dance with Ouse Washes today for the Mark Jones memorial day of dance.

Was a good day, with lots of other sides there too. That did however mean we didn't get to do that many dances, which was a shame, but then you can't have everything and I think it was probably nicer to have all the sides there.

Did seem to always be the last one to be asked to be in any particular dance (ie Rachel asking the people standing around me if they want to be in it, wondering off asking several other members of the side and then finally coming back to me). Felt a bit more like a spare part rather than a member of the side (I don't want to push myself forward for dancing in case it make things worse, so I guess it's just a matter of waiting). I guess it's just Rachel being uncomfortable approaching me to be in the set and that given time it will all be alright. Hope it doesn't take too long though, makes dancing with Gogs very awkward.

All the same, was a fun day. Finally got Hamish's fleece back to him (having been left in Sheffield in October, coming down to London in early December and sitting in my flat since then).

and can now also finally put a face to the new David in the side, who seems nice.

A Theory....

Having looked a the buffet after the end of the dancing today, Terry, Lisa and I all noticed that it was mainly pastry stuff and similar (ie pasties, spring roles, samosas, etc) with no indication of the contents or whether it was veggie or not (mainly not I discovered having broken a few of them open to look inside and then feeding them to the nearest carnivore).

Anyway, this is such a common occurance that we came up with this theory, that it must be because vegetarians have a natural ability to detect meat within a radius of several million miles, through brick walls and everything!

However, as we've all been caught out by meat being hidden under cheese (on pizzas, etc), that's obviously where the limitation of these powers lies.

Emma suggested we should use these powers to take over the world, but we came to the conclusion that it was obviously the cheese thing that was stopping us from doing so...
