For some reason this post is not visible on thethirdvoice's friends list, even though it's a public post and she should be able to view all my posts anyway.
Posts appear on friends pages in the order in which they are posted, without regard for the date they've been given. It can be freaky to see a post from 1993 in the middle of your flist. The backdate option is explicitly for times when you want to post something from 1993; it is not shown to avoid freaking people out.
Because then things you hadn't read would end up below things you had. You want your friends page to be in order of things actually appearing on the internet, because (in principle) you want to read everything your friends post, with minimal effort.
Weird. I got that, too. I discovered that chainmailmaiden's most recent post hadn't shown up on my Friends page, or on king_pellinor's, either. I wonder how often this is happening, then...

Date: 2006-08-11 06:27 pm (UTC)Shouldn't have been, but it appears so, weird.
However, that still begs the question why aren't backdated posts shown?

Date: 2006-08-16 06:25 pm (UTC)They can put them in order by the date on my journal, so why not in someone's friends page too?

Date: 2006-08-17 01:25 pm (UTC)So the solution to the fact that they'd get lost in the history and you'd miss them is to not show them, so you miss them.
This sounds fairly silly to me...
