How exactly does copyright work with respect to ceilidh dances? ie I think a lot get spread by people writing them down having danced them, so how's that work?

Have just been thinking how useful the index of dance notations on the round's site was when I was calling at the round (unfortunately all the external sites it links to seem to be dead now though).

Hugh's database thing always looked useful to tell you were to find where the dances are published, but that can only help if you can get access to the publications listed surely?

What would be nice would be to have a calling note version of Wikipedia, as that seems like it would fit with the spirit of sharing dances that (I at least believe) exists within the ceilidh community. Does one exist? How would that fit in with copyright if it did?
