Just been watching a spider walk on 7 legs. Does this constitute hopping?

Is hopping just on one leg or just less legs than normal?

I think all the legs have to go off the ground at once to hop, and some of them stay off the ground all the time. I wouldn't know whether the some is "all but one" or "at least one" though :-)

I remember someone studying classifications of gait, but I can't remember the details, except that there was some clever brain oscillator thing that could theoreticaly control reaosnable gaits, which might be a good way of extrapolating, other than that I don't think unnatural hopping gaits count... :)
