A couple of random Americans started to talk to me on the train (ok one was very quick to point out she was Canadian).
People don't talk to random strangers so much in the city as they would in the countryside. Then again if you said "hello" to everyone you walked passed in the city you'd never get where you're going...
Still we need more people having random conversations with random strangers...

What Is A Leek?
Sep. 17th, 2005 05:55 pmJust been to the supermarket. The person in front of me had bought a leek (amongst other things). When she got to the front of the queue the till assistant didn't have a clue what it was!
I suppose it's a natural result of a cultural move to pre-prepared meals, but it was still a bit surprising to see...
